Biography

Eugene Koonin is a molecular biologist by training. He is now based at the National Center for Biotechnology Information in Bethesda, Maryland, where he is the leader of a research group in Computational Evolutionary Genomics. In his spare time he enjoys wild speculation on the origin of life, marathon running and high quality Bordeaux.
